Spectra Logic will continue to offer the BlackPearl S Series.

Introduced in 2013, Spectra Logic’s BlackPearl Deep Storage Gateway sits in front of the deep storage tape libraries and can easily be used as a tier for deep storage, is cost-effective, and has extremely high scalability. The BlackPearl Deep Storage Gateway is aimed at organizations where data is a significant part of their operations and provides a direct interface from any workflow into an active archive, providing access to nearline storage, tape and cloud, while reducing costs. Today’s announcements follow integrations with Amazon and Cyberduck announced in July of this year.

The BlackPearl V is a 2U entry-level option. Though it is aimed at smaller organizations at a lower costs it is still able to store 300 million objects and transfer data at up to 300MB/s sustained to disk or tape. Customers can combine the BlackPearl V with a Spectra T50e Tape Library and store up to 750TB in a 6U space.

For users that have a focus on performance, Spectra Logic is offering the BlackPearl P Series. The P Series can store a billion or more objects, transfer up to 3,000MB/s sustained to disk or tape, and manage 20 or more LTO-7 tape drives, paving the way for future generations of LTO and TS tape drives.
