Supermicro Announces 4 Socket, Optane Server

Today Super Micro Computer Inc. announced that its four-socket servers now support both Intel Xeon Scalable processors and Intel Optane DC persistent memory. The combination of the two Intel technologies in a Supermicro server, can deliver a huge performance boost while still keeping costs in check.


Today Super Micro Computer Inc. announced that its four-socket servers now support both Intel Xeon Scalable processors and Intel Optane DC persistent memory. The combination of the two Intel technologies in a Supermicro server, can deliver a huge performance boost while still keeping costs in check.

For cloud vendors that have the most demanding and intensive enterprise workloads, Supermicro has its SuperServer 2049U-TR4. This powerful 2U server is optimized to fully leverage the next-generation Intel Xeon Scalable as well as Intel Optane DC persistent memory. The company goes on to state that its 2049U-TR4 server is also ideal for use as a building block for enterprise customers who are looking to migrate from their current mainframe infrastructure.

Supermicro also announced its 4U SuperServer, the 8049U-E1CR4T. This 4U server is said to support 4 CPUs, 112 cores, 18TB of memory, 16 expansion slots, 8 NVMe SDDs, and up to six GPU cards. Use cases include in-memory computing, real-time data analytics, AI inference and virtualization.

Availability

Supermicro is currently sampling its new 4U server, the SuperServer 8049U-E1CR4T.
