Today Synology America Corp announced its newest RackStation, the RS2416+/RS2416RP+. The new RackStation is a 12-bay NAS that features resilient data integrity and snapshots that can be scheduled. The new device can be scaled up to 24 bays, delivers reliable performance, and is powered by DiskStation Manger (DSM) Synology’s award winning operating system.
The RackStation RS2416+/RS2416RP+ supports the next-generation Btrfs file system and offers metadata mirroring and checksums to deliver a higher level of data availability and survivability. Snapshots can be setup to automatically be captured as often as every 5 minutes. If something happens (through accidental human error or equipment failure) businesses can go back and recover previous versions of the files. With 6GB of RAM (the maximum that it can be expanded to) up to 256 daily, weekly, or monthly snapshots can be retained.
