Today Synology announced that it has new RackStation, the RS818+/RS818RP+. Built with a quad core processor and optional 10GbE, the new NAS packs a powerful punch in a small form factor. This new 1U NAS is aimed at the SMB market.
The new RS818+/RS818RP+ is a powerful update to Synology’s small rackmount NAS devices. While it has the same CPU as the RS815+, the company has doubled the maximum RAM to 16GB and added the ability for a 10GbE NIC. This takes its performance up from 389MB/s to the new quoted speed of 1,099MB/s. The new NAS is also built with high availability in mind with four 1GbE LAN ports for failover and the redundant power (RP) version.
RackStatoin RS818+/RS818RP+ specifications:
As with all Synology NAS, the new RS818+/RS818RP+ runs the intuitive and powerful DiskStation Manager (DSM), the company’s award winning operating system.
