WD My Passport NVMe SSD

Today, Western Digital announced its new line of WD branded My Passport portable SSDs. The main difference with this drive vs their other portable SSDs is its use of NVMe storage. This line of My Passports will allow for much greater transfer speeds of up to 1050MB/s read and 1000MB/s write over a USB3.2 Gen 2 type-C connector. It also offers 256-bit AES hardware encryption.

In addition to being fast, they’re also stylish! With a modern design, the WD My Passport NVMe SSDs will also be available in several colors such as gray, blue, red and gold. There is also function in this form, with shock and vibration resistance and drop-resistant up to 6.5 feet (1.98m) to keep your data safe from droppage while out in the field.

With more and more portable SSDs coming to market, it’s great to see some differentiation with the use of NVMe drives in this product. These can make for great shuttle drives to transfer data or footage from location to location, whether you’re a photographer or creating video. It also allows for processing that data directly on the drive quicker, allowing for some editing in the field.

The WD My Passport NVMe drives will be available in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities and a variety of colors. Currently, a 500GB and 1TB version in gray is available at an MSRP of $119.99 and $189.99 respectively.
