Storage Webinars

IT administrators and storage experts within SMBs and the enterprise face an increasingly complex set of decisions when it comes to deploying, managing and supporting a storage infrastructure. Many storage vendors offer a regular series of webinars to help demystify these decisions. To help our audience be as educated as possible, StorageReview.com maintains this list of relevant upcoming storage webinars. Most of the webinars are free and typicall only take 30 minutes or less, offering a condensed program designed to be easily consumable over coffee or lunch.

SolidFire: Storage choices for the Next-generation Data Centre
Tuesday, March 3, 2015, 5:00 am EST

Real business demands for greater agility, performance and automation are increasingly being held back by traditional storage platforms. As companies move from traditional storage infrastructures to the next generation data centre, they have more options for consuming storage infrastructure than ever before - as a Service, Converged Infrastructure, as an Appliance, or Software running on commodity hardware. Which combination should you choose?

Andy will review the storage infrastructure choices available today. He will then discuss the elements you should consider for your next generation, cloud storage platform, however you choose to consume storage - Quality of Service for guaranteed application performance, In-line data reduction, Scale-out storage architectures, Self-healing high availability and Complete system automation. Finally, he will share how these capabilities have been proven in the worlds most demanding data centres, including solutions for Virtualised Applications (VMware, Microsoft) and Cloud Orchestration (OpenStack, CloudStack, VMware).

HP & Scality
Wednesday, March 4th, 2015 Two Sessions:
Session 1: 9:00AM Central Europe Time
Session 2: 2:00PM Eastern Standard Time

When it comes to IT infrastructure, one may wonder what can be learned from environments comprised of thousands of servers and hard drives. Well, much like the capabilities derived from 600,000 pound airliners, hyperscale data centers have much to teach.

Keeping applications running in large-scale hardware environments forces new behavior and new technology. With the same number, and often fewer administrators, there is no time to stop everything to replace failed drives, servers, or even racks of servers. Application clients have to be rerouted immediately, and hardware replacement relegated to a regular maintenance task.

True data resiliency, even in the case of rack and site failure, can’t be a complex dance of local RAID, asynchronous replication, offsite backups, manual steps and as much as 400% overhead. Data must be identifiable at a much more granular level than half-empty volumes and data protection must incorporate notions of local and remote natively. This enables better protection than the independent mechanisms of today, with much greater efficiency.

Join Tom Leyden from Scality, and Sanjeet Singh from HP as they discuss these groundbreaking theories.

This webinar will have two parts:

  • An overview of the HP Hardware + Scality RING Petabyte-Scale Software-Defined Storage Solution Reseller Agreement.
  • A discussion with Sanjeet Singh, Product Manager at HP, and Tom Leyden, Product Marketing Director at Scality.

What’s best for VDI Hybrid or All-Flash Storage
Thursday, March 12th, at 1:00PM ET

The top concern for IT planners looking to implement or expand the use of their VDI investment is storage performance. This is because every step that is taken to drive down cost per desktop, or improve the user experience, impacts storage performance and capacity. All-flash arrays address the performance problem with a sledgehammer and for many environments they can be the most cost effective option. But for others, hybrid solutions may make more sense.

Join Storage Switzerland and Tegile Systems for a live, interactive webinar as we discuss the various challenges that VDI scale brings to storage and how All-Flash Arrays and Hybrid Arrays can address those challenges.

By attending this webinar you will learn:

  • The Storage Challenges Caused when VDI administrators try to meet user’s performance expectations and drive down costs
  • How Flash based storage addresses those challenges
  • How to address both the virtual image storage demand and the users data needs in a single system
  • How to choose between All-Flash and Hybrid for your VDI implementation

Control Big Data Storage Costs with Cloud-Scale Economics
Thursday, March 19, 2015 11:00AM - 1:00PM ET

Big data industries rely on managing large quantities of data to compete and are actively formulating strategies to more efficiently store that data. For most enterprises, the solution includes both public and private cloud for security and continuity reasons, but this introduces a level of unfamiliar complexity. Utilizing next generation NAS technology can provide enterprises with a highly cost efficient way to bridge the gap between legacy and cloud storage options. In this session, a panel of experts will discuss top questions about the planning, implementation, and management of adopting a hybrid cloud for “big data” use cases.

Object-Based Approach Key to Web-Scale Infrastructure
Wednesday, April 8, 2015, 11:00 am CT | 9:00 am PT

IDC views the move toward object-based storage as undeniable, given the drive toward a web-scale infrastructure and data-centric cloud. Enterprises and service providers are either adopting or evaluating how this approach can balance the needs for greater scale and reduction in complexity and cost within their operations as well as which technology companies can provide the strongest offerings and foundation for their evolving data infrastructure.

This discussion will feature Ashish Nadkarni, IDC’s primary researcher for object-based storage, and Russ Kennedy, Cleversafe’s leader for product strategy, who will examine the evolution underway in data infrastructure operating at web-scale, the emerging requirements and landscape in object-based storage and finally, Cleversafe’s leadership within it.

Who should attend this webinar?

  • Storage Architects, IT administrators, and department heads that want to learn more about OBS capabilities and solutions.

Topics include:

  • IDC’s perspective on object-based storage growth and trends in data infrastructure
  • The key characteristics enterprises and service providers are using when evaluating web-scale solutions
  • How Cleversafe’s web-scale platform delivers scalability, security, efficiency and flexibility to enable a new approach to data infrastructure and operations
