OCZ has reported their quarter ending in November of 2011 – another record revenue quarter for the company. Net revenue for the quarter was $103.1 million, $95.5 million of that coming from SSD sales. In terms of revenue growth from the SSD business, this quarter’s numbers represent an increase of 130% compared to the same quarter last year and a 34% increase compared to the prior quarter. Conference Call Highlights:

  • Toward the end of the quarter OCZ saw a material increase in demand for their PCIe line of SSD’s
  • R&D investments are driving new innovative products – R&D makes up over half of OCZ’s head count
  • Increased demand for their Indilinx products, epseciialy in the Ultrabook market
  • Commercial availability of the Z-Drive R5 is expected in the second half of this year
  • OCZ’s Vertex 4 will leverage the new Everest 2 platform
  • Hard drive shortage had a small impact on the quarter’s sales
  • OCZ has had to invest heavily in NAND purchases to support demand for current orders

The biggest news in terms of new products surrounds the Vertex 4 making the switch from SandForce processors to the new Indilinx Everest 2, which OCZ claims is the fastest SATA 6Gb/s processor available. Everest 2 is expected to ship in volume in the middle of 2012, which means we could see Octane 2 and Vertex 4 SSDs based on the new controllers as early as this summer.
