Apstra AOS 3.3

Apstra AOS is an Intent-Based Networking (IBN) software-only solution. It can be installed on any VM or server. AOS is multi-vendor by design and improved VMware support just last year. AOS connects and manages devices via device agents. During the network design phase, users can define multiple logical devices and racks and assemble them into a template along with many other configuration details. Multiple templates can be created and instantiated together in a virtual data center to create a blueprint for the entire network.

When Apstra describes AOS as Intent-Based Networking (IBN) software, they mean it is a tool designed to automate network management, deployment, and creation, especially in the data center. Apstra sees IBN as a closed-loop, continuous validation, solution that relies on automation to address the speed, reliability, and human capital challenges of continuously growing data centers. In addition to providing management tools, AOS also provides analytics tools to help IT teams detect and resolve issues.

Apstra AOS 3.3 introduces advanced IBN capabilities to Juniper Networks switching. These new abilities are in addition to the already existing support for Juniper. 3.3 supposedly also includes a number of open-networking enhancements, but they didn’t share any details about what those enhancements are with us.
