Colfax to Deploy OCZ Z-Drive R4 in Enterprise Servers

OCZ Technology has announced that Colfax International will deploy Z-Drive R4 PCIe SSDs into their new lines of enterprise servers. Colfax recently updated many of their platforms to be compatible with Intel’s latest dual socket Sandy Bridge-EP platform, which enables up to 80 lanes of Gen 3 PCIe throughput, effectively letting the Z-Drive R4 operate at its full potential.

Colfax recently updated many of their platforms to be compatible with Intel’s latest dual socket Sandy Bridge-EP platform, which enables up to 80 lanes of Gen 3 PCIe throughput, effectively letting the Z-Drive R4 operate at its full potential.

The new Colfax CX2230i-X5 2U servers and FX8400 workstations can be configured with up to seven 3.2TB Z-Drive R4’s, delivering up to 20 Gb/s throughput over as much as 22.4TB of total storage capacity. For enterprise users what want the most power per rack U, it’s hard to argue with that kind of performance out of a 2U server. Of course the R4 is about more than just performance, leveraging standard grade MLC NAND, in many cases the R4 provides the best IOPS/$ numbers available, without giving up much on the endurance front.
