Fusion-io has announced that BetOnSoft, a global online gaming software provider, is accelerating its Microsoft SQL Server 2012 database to improve customer experience by integrating Fusion’s ioMemory platform. As such, the BetOnSoft platform can perform player profiling, fraud detection, and marketing analysis in real-time, with applications taking immediate automated actions based on the results.

BetOnSoft doubled its user-traffic compared to last year and recently delivered its one-billionth game played on its platform. As part of the Microsoft Technology Adoption Program, the development team recently upgraded to SQL Server 2012 powered by Fusion ioMemory to scale with expected growth without impacting user experience. The integration of Fusion-io enabled BetOnSoft to reduce both planned and unexpected downtime, maximize application availability, and provide data protection using SQL Server 2012 AlwaysOn high availability and disaster recovery solutions.

In addition, BetOnSoft reduced its CheckDB run-time–a database command that verifies data integrity–from four and a half hours down to 25 minutes and backup run times were reduced from four hours to 25 minutes. BetOnSoft also now runs CheckDB every week without affecting user experience to ensure the BenOnSoft database is corruption free. Additionally, Failover speeds took only 14 seconds.

Using Fusion’s ioMemory solution enabled BetOnSoft to gain enough capacity and performance headroom to meet the demands of over ten times their current workload.

Fusion-io also announced that Dwango Co.’s Nico-Nico Douga, one of the largest video-sharing websites in Japan, is now using ioMemory to improve user experience and to reduce its data center footprint. With Fusion ioDrives, Dwango was able to improve system performance and consolidate servers. This significantly reduced the amount of energy and space all the while providing an excellent user experience. Nico Nico Douga has over 26 million registered users with 1.5 million being premium accounts. Tens of thousands of those users will view videos simultaneously at any given time. Previously, it required 15 servers to support high-performance for the most popular content; however, with the Fusion ioDrives, Nico Nico Douga can support these same traffic spikes with just two to three servers.

By reducing its overall server footprint and with four times the performance per server, Dwango greatly reduced its current and future floor space in addition to its maintenance requirements. As a result, the Dwango IT team can spend more time on improving business operations as opposed to constantly maintaining systems.
