Iomega has announced new integration between Iomega network storage solutions and EMC Atmos. This will enable easy cloud backup for smaller organizations and others by extending EMC Atmos cloud-based data protection and sharing to Iomega’s network storage product offerings. The new integration gives SMBs, remote offices, and distributed enterprises easy access to any Atmos powered cloud around the globe.

The Iomega StorCenter PX Server Class Series of network storage products feature a new version of EMC LifeLine software including the Atmos Connector client. In conjunction with a service provider, the Atmos Connector software allows users to copy data stored on an Iomega StorCenter network storage device directly to Atmos-powered cloud storage. It then instantly becomes a backup copy once their data is in the cloud, which helps to protect customers’ data from various types of outages. In addition, customers can access their cloud-based data from more than one location to make data movement and data sharing easy as possible.

EMC Atmos is designed to provide powerful, yet efficient, management of globally distributed cloud storage for big data environments. With Atmos and the Atmos Cloud Delivery Platform, service providers and enterprises can rapidly deploy new services with add-on software used to deliver and manage storage-as-a-service to any Atmos cloud. The Atmos Connector gives users of Iomega network storage solutions the ability to take advantage of Atmos’ features all the while having the flexibility to use their preferred Atmos-powered service provider.
