McAfee said that their new Cloud for Containers Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) security solution is the result of their integrating NanoSec’s software after purchasing Nanosec less than half a year ago. CSPM software helps organizations discover and assesses cloud misconfigurations. That is what McAfee’s just released solution seems to do, although it can be a bit difficult to tell through all the buzzwords the company uses. McAfee MVISION Cloud for Container primarily scans container images to identify exploitable components during development. These scans help software engineers stay up to date with the latest risks and select the currently safest approaches. The solution can also run configuration audit checks for containerized workloads. These audits review the complete container stack including the configuration of the virtual machine the container runs on, as well as the storage, network, and other Platform as a Service (PaaS) services the container may be accessing.
