Today Mellanox released ConnectX-6 Dx cards that are capable of 200Gb/s over NVMe/TCP. Mellanox was founded in 1999 and provides data center network solutions. NVIDIA is in the process of buying Mellanox for $6.9 billion by the end of the calendar year.

The ConnectX-6 Dx is the latest in Mellanox’s multi-decade line of network cards. Building on their previous successes, the new cards provide either a single port of 200Gb/s Ethernet connectivity or two ports of 10/25/40/50/100Gb/s. In addition to basic network connectivity, the cards also sport several dedicated hardware accelerators. Notably, they support acceleration for Open vSwitch connection tracking and inline hardware cryptographic acceleration of IPSec and TLS for both RoCE and TCP.

Surprisingly for such a new card, the ConnectX-6 Dx has many form factors available. The new card, of course, supports Mellanox's own Mellanox Multi-Host and Mellanox Socket Direct configurations. It also comes in low-profile PCIe, OCP 2.0 and OCP 3.0 compliant cards. Finally, there are also small form factor SFP28/56, QSFP28/56, and SFP-DD versions.

We previously covered the ConnectX-6 Dx cards. We also covered Mellanox's BlueField-2 IPU which promises the same network performance as the ConnectX-6 Dx. Mellanox has not yet told us when they hope to start shipping the BlueField-2 IPUs.
