This week’s News Bits we look at a number of small announcements, small in terms of the content not the impact they have. Druva achieved FedRAMP Certification. Druva Achieves FedRAMP Certification
Druva announced that its inSync has attained FedRAMP “In Process” status. Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) is a U.S. federal program ensuring proper security when accessing cloud computing products and services. This status strengthens Druva’s security credentials and potentially opens it up to new customers.
Altaro Announces GA Of Its VM Backup V7
Altaro announced the general availability of the latest version, version 7, of its VM Backup. VM Backup offers many enterprise-level features but is aimed at, and widely deployed in, the small to medium market.

Silicon Power Announces New High Capacity SD & microSD Cards
Silicon Power (SP) announces high capacity SD and microSD cards up to 256GB. As devices such as GoPro cameras that capture 4K video become more and more prevalent, users will need higher capacity storage devices to capture this footage on. SP has expanded the capacity on its popular Superior Pro SDHC/SDXC UHS-I (U3) and Elite microSDHC/microSDXC UHS-I series cards to meet those needs.

DDN Announces Enhancements To Its WOS Platform
DataDirect Networks (DDN) announced several enhancements to its WOS Object Storage platform. These new features and capabilities, according to DDN, give WOS the lowest data protection overhead available in the market.

Virtual Instruments Announced Load DynamiX Enterprise 5.3
Virtual Instruments announced enhancements to its Load DynamiX Enterprise storage performance validation solution with the latest version 5.3. This update is all about enabling customers to more intelligently deploy storage infrastructure in their hybrid data centers, simplifying storage performance testing and validation, and saving customers costs.

Dell EMC Incorporates Toshiba HK4 SSDs Into Its PowerEdge 13G Servers
Toshiba America Electronics Components, Inc. announced that Dell EMC will now be incorporating its HK4 Series of SSDs into their PowerEdge 13G Servers. Having reviewed both, we see this as the merging of two great technologies. In our HK4 review we found that the drive held well against SAS3 models, as well as having above average performance, and in a rarity for us, it came with no cons. We have also reviewed several Dell EMC 13G PowerEdge servers, finding them to offering everything one would want in a server with plenty of versatility to boot.
Veeam Releases 1Q 2017 Results
Veeam released the results of its first quarter of 2017 with some fairly impressive numbers. While the company didn’t talk specific financial numbers like revenue, they did note that they had 33% Year on Year total bookings revenue and new Enterprise license bookings grew 17% annually. Veeam is also reporting that its Cloud revenue grew 59% Year on Year.

Scality Expands Support For Its S3 Server
Scality announced the immediate availability of a new open-source Scality S3 Server release, under the Apache 2.0 license, with support for high availability and multiple cloud data backends. On top of that, Scality is also expanding its multi-cloud support to include AWS S3, In-memory, Scality RING, and Docker Volume.
Dell Announces Its First 4K HDR Monitor
Before the NAB 2017 show next week, Dell announced yet another new UltraSharp monitor, the UP2718Q. This new monitor is a 27-inch screen that is Dell’s first HDR10 display with UHD Alliance Premium Certification. Like most of Dell’s new monitors, this one has a Ultra HD 4K display, with four times more detail than full HD and the depth of 1.07 billion colors. The UP2718Q is built for those that edit and create beautiful imagery and videos.
The new Dell 4K HDR Monitor is expected to be available May 23, 2017, with a MSRP of $1,999.99.
