The drive is surprisingly inexpensive compared to similarly-sized drives too, coming in at just $10,900. The new drive is available with either SAS or SATA connections. Two smaller models, 16TB, and 32TB, are also available.
Possibly the best thing about the new QLC SSDs from Nimbus Data is their size. The new Nimbus Data ExaDrive NL SSDs are available in a three and a half-inch form factor, which means that they can fit in a standard 3.5″ HDD slot. According to the company, their new drives are plug-and-play compatible with virtually any 3.5″ HDD slot. Being available with either SATA or SAS connections helps increase the number of existing rack units they can be used in.
Nimbus Data’s previous Exadrive has held the world record for the largest solid-state drive available for more than two years now. It has a tremendous storage capacity of 100TB in just a single drive. The massive drive has a similarly high price of $40,000.
