The TS-x53D series is equipped with an Intel Celeron J4125 quad-core 2.0 GHz processor (with bursts up to 2.7 GHz), up to 8GB of DDR4 memory, and dual 2.5GbE RJ45 ports, the latter which can deliver up to 5 Gbps transfer speeds under Port Trunking. The PCIe 2.0 expansion slot adds flexibility, as users can up the NAS functionality with the addition of things like a 5GbE/10GbE network card, QM2 network/storage card, or QWA-AC2600 wireless adapter. The TS-x53D also supports SSD caching for low-latency applications as well as auto-optimized tiered storage with Qtier technology, which helps it to reach a good balance between optimal performance and storage utilization.

TS-x53D NAS series models include:

  • TS-253D-4G: 2 drive bays, 4 GB DDR4 memory (1 x 4 GB)
  • TS-453D-4G: 4 drive bays, 4 GB DDR4 memory (1 x 4 GB)
  • TS-453D-8G: 4 drive bays, 8 GB DDR4 memory (2 x 4 GB)
  • TS-653D-4G: 6 drive bays, 4 GB DDR4 memory (1 x 4 GB)
  • TS-653D-8G: 6 drive bays, 8 GB DDR4 memory (2 x 4 GB)

The TS-x53D series is all great for design professionals, as it supports a range of useful features like advanced file storage, sharing, backup, sync, and data protection. Moreover, its block-based snapshot support allows for easy data protection and recovery, and protection against ransomware threats. QNAP’s new NAS line also features a range of multimedia functionality, including:

  • HDMI 2.0 output for displaying up to 4K (4096 x 2160) videos @60Hz
  • High-quality 4K video transcoding for converting videos to universal file formats
  • Video streaming through DLNA, Plex, and Chromecast

Like all QNAP NAS solutions, the TS-x53D has full access to the built-in QTS App Center, with software that allows it to fit in to a range of other use cases such as hosting multiple virtual machines and containers, deploying a cloud storage gateway, and implementing a professional video surveillance.
