QNAP Systems has announced the availability of their new 4-bay 10GbE-ready TVS-471U Turbo vNAS series, including the TVS-471U-RP and TVS-471U. Featuring high performance, scalable design, reliability and rich business applications, QNAP indicates that the TVS-471U line is designed to offer SMBs smooth daily file operations as well as low total cost of ownership. The company’s QvPC Technology also adds more hands-on usage for functionality including direct access to stored data, monitoring live surveillance feeds, and watching media with a keyboard, mouse, and HDMI display. In addition, Qsirch allows users to quickly search through their files on the QNAP NAS to find specific items with improved productivity.

The 4-bay rackmount TVS-471U series is equipped with Intel Haswell Pentium and Core i3 processors, quoting over 1,500 MB/s in throughput and 128,000 IOPS for CPU-intensive tasks including Virtualization Station, serving large numbers of simultaneous connections, and 4K video playback and transcoding. Additionally, its two on-board internal cache ports give users the ability to install mSATA flash modules for increased NAS performance when using IOPS-demanding applications. The storage capacity of the TVS-471U series can also be scaled to over 1PB by attaching multiple QNAP’s RAID expansion enclosures (REXP-1600U-RP and REXP-1200U-RP).

QNAP’s QvPC Technology allows users to operate the TVS-471U series as cost-effective PC alternative by connecting a keyboard and mouse and using a monitor via the HDMI connection. With this technology, QNAP says that tasks such as accessing stored data, running multiple applications on Windows/Linux/UNIX/Android VMs, internet access, watching 4K videos, and monitoring surveillance feeds from IP cameras can be seamlessly carried out directly using the NAS.

Qsirch, which is available from the QTS App Center, allows its users to use its near real-time search engine to easily find the files they need on their TVS-471U series NAS. Additionally, the search-while-typing feature and the category support (including images, videos, music, documents and PDF) helps to increase search speed, which can improve productivity in the workplace. QNAP also indicates that the searching efficiency is faster than conventional methods, making the TVS-471U series flexible and dynamic file centers for storing and accessing files.

The TVS-471U series is iSCSI-SAN unified storage with a broad-range of business-ready features. The new line supports VMware, Microsoft and Citrix virtualization solutions to simplify virtual storage management and facilitates cross-platform file sharing for Windows, Mac, and Linux/UNIX platforms. In addition to supporting Windows AD, LDAP directory services and Windows ACL for efficient permission settings, the TVS-471U series can act as a domain controller for Windows. Flexible backup solutions for Windows and Mac users and disaster recovery solutions including RTRR, rsync and cloud storage backup are also included.
