Seagate has launched an updated Seagate Exos CORVAULT 4U106 mass data storage system with a 2.5PB capacity. This system stands out for its high rack density, extended lifespan, and energy efficiency, leading to a lower total cost of ownership.
Seagate has launched an updated Seagate Exos CORVAULT 4U106 mass data storage system with a 2.5PB capacity. This system stands out for its high rack density, extended lifespan, and energy efficiency, leading to a lower total cost of ownership.
It incorporates Seagate’s high-capacity HAMR Exos X (soon to be up to 29TB each, 24TB shipping) hard drives and self-healing technology, enhancing efficiency in scale-out data center architectures. This technology can cut storage networking resources by up to 50 percent and boost rack power efficiency by 30 percent.
The system’s self-healing features, including Seagate’s Autonomous Drive Regeneration (ADR) and Advanced Distributed Autonomic Protection Technology (ADAPT), minimize downtime and reduce the need for maintenance and human intervention, thereby lessening the carbon footprint and e-waste.
The Exos CORVAULT 4U106 is already available in a 2PB conventional magnetic recording (CMR) configuration and will soon offer 2PB and 2.5PB options using Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) technology. These new configurations will be available for order from storage resellers worldwide in November, with availability expected by the end of December.
