Synology has announced the launch of C2 Backup For Individuals and C2 Backup For Businesses, the latest addition to the company’s C2 cloud application portfolio. C2 Backup offers users comprehensive and efficient data protection for Windows devices, both at home or distributed across multiple offices. It also allows users to securely back up everything on Windows PCs and servers via a single console, including system configurations and software, files, folders, and external drives.
C2 Backup is highlighted by its use of “forever-incremental backup.” This helps optimize storage and bandwidth while reducing the amount of data uploaded for every backup by only targeting blocks that have changed. In addition, subscribers can set their own individual version retention preferences to meet their specific needs or comply with corporate policies and regulations.
C2 Backup also offers scheduling strategies to help ensure users don’t miss their backups. With this feature, users will be able to choose if backup tasks are executed periodically or when events such as screen locking, account logouts, or device power-ups occur.
If a device fails or experiences data loss/ransomware attacks, users will be able to quickly resume services. Its file-level recovery retrieves files immediately, while entire devices can be restored to a previous state with bare-metal recovery. Moreover, C2 Backup uses end-to-end AES-256 encryption and a user-held private key, the latter of which is necessary to unlock backup files and sensitive information.
Synology offers C2 Backup in two subscription plans:
