Veeam v10 Enters General Availability

Data Protection  ◇  Enterprise

Today, Veeam released v10 of their popular Veeam Availability Suite. Veeam Availability Suite was first introduced in 2008 as Veeam Backup & Replication and has been their flagship backup solution ever since. Veeam was founded in 2006 and was recently acquired by Insight Partners for roughly five billion dollars. Veeam is well known for their data management and disaster recovery products.

Veeam v10 highlights

Veeam Availability Suite V10 is entering general availability with a host of new and improved features. First among the new features is the long-requested ability to backup NFS and SMB file shares directly from network-attached storage (NAS). V10 also comes with upgrades for their existing ability to backup both Windows and Linux based file servers. Veeam is further enhancing their backup abilities with enhanced Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) object storage integration and immutable backups. V10 is also rolling out with improvements to recovery once your data has been backed up. V10 extends Veeams “instant VM recovery” to allow you to a multi-VM recovery service that supports mass “instant” restores.

We did sit down with Veeam to talk about v10 recently:

Veeam Availability Suite V10 also comes with enhanced support for third-party tools. V10 offers broader platform and ecosystem support, including new, advanced capabilities for Linux, Nutanix AHV, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and more. V10 also includes an extended API to simplify third-party data analysis software integration with the new Veeam Data Integration API.
