Today Dell EMC announced a new, turnkey, hybrid cloud platform, the Dell EMC Cloud for Microsoft Azure Stack. Dell EMC states that this new platform will give customers a simple and fast path for implementing and sustaining a hybrid cloud based on Microsoft Azure Stack. For companies standardizing on the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, the new platform can accelerate their digital transformation with automated IT service delivery for traditional and cloud-native applications.

Combining Dell EMC’s leadership in worldwide cloud infrastructure with its long history of partnering with Microsoft, the new platform complements other existing platforms such as Dell EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud and Dell EMC Native Hybrid Cloud. The Cloud for Microsoft Azure Stack leverages Dell EMC PowerEdge R730XD and PowerConnect switches. The new platform will deliver a consistent experience to customers using Azure public cloud and private with Azure Stack. The consistent experience gives users what Dell EMC refers to as a “true hybrid cloud” that would speed application development and deployment.

This single vendor, turnkey platform is aimed at lowering costs and increasing productivity without the sacrifice in security, service quality, or availability some hybrid clouds run into. The companies intend to do this through Dell EMC’s encryption technologies as well as the adoption of Pivotal Cloud Foundry on Azure for consistent services, APIs and consumption models for on- and off-premises. On top of that customers can take advantage of Dell EMC services for implementation, operations, and support. With ProSupport Plus, customers will have support throughout the lifecycle of the platform with each component backed by automated proactive, predictive tools and a dedicated Technical Account Manager.

Availability

The Dell EMC Cloud for Microsoft Azure Stack is expected to be available later in 2017.
