Seagate has announced that it has shipped its 10 millionth solid-state hybrid hard drive. Seagate was the first to release SSHDs on the market and has experienced a growing demand for their hybrid solutions since its inception, as it offers the speed and performance of SSDs combined with the industry’s highest storage capacities.

Seagate has announced several significant product updates as well as the release of its new Cloud Systems and Solutions group (CSS), which delivers scalable, secure, efficient, and cost-effective Cloud service architectures and solutions. Seagate storage products that have been updated include their PCIe flash accelerator cards and enterprise HDDs.

LaCie has announced the latest addition to the d2 desktop storage line, featuring a new all-aluminum unibody enclosure, dual Thunderbolt 2, and USB 3.0. The new LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 2 is designed to be upgradable to the fastest SSD solution on the market, which boasts speeds upwards of 1150 MB/s. 

Amplidata has announced that Western Digital Capital has made a $10 million strategic investment in the company. NVM Express Inc. announced today that it is initiating an effort to specify a standard for NVM Express (NVMe) over Fabrics. NVMe over Fabrics will extend the benefits of NVMe to where usage over fabric is more appropriate than using PCIe. NVM Express also announced a revision of version 1.2 of its NVM Express Specification.

VMware Inc. has announced it is rebranding VMware vCloud Hybrid Service to VMware vCloud Air. VMWare vCloud Hybrid Service used preexisting tools to extend customers data centers into the cloud and is available in three service offerings: disaster recovery, dedicated cloud, and virtual private cloud. Along with the rebranding comes new improvements that will provide greater choice
