Today at DockerCon Europe 2015, VMware Inc. announced that its Photon Controller, one of the components of its Photon Platform, is now available as an open source project. First announced at VMworld, the Photon Platform is a purpose-built solution designed to meet this emerging need and features in order to run cloud-native applications at scale.

Today at DockerCon Europe 2015, ContainerX launched the beta of its new comprehensive, multi-tenant container platform designed for enterprise IT admins. This new platform provides a single pane of glass for all containers allowing support for Linux and Windows, bare metal and virtual machines, private and public cloud environments.

Data Dynamics states that this release will expand its lead in software defined migration solutions. The update brings new abilities to scale as well as faster migration speeds due to the upgrade to a 64bit architecture.

Today Coho Data announced the release of the latest version of software that powers their arrays, DataStream 2.6. This latest release integrates with VMware Site Recovery Manger. This integration will bring users easy disaster recovery, failover, and failback.

Red Hat Inc. announced that its Gluster Storage is available in Microsoft Azure as a fully supported offering. Through Gluster, Azure users will have a scale-out, POSIX compatible, massively scalable, elastic file storage solution with a global namespace. This announcement also means that existing Gluster users will have another public cloud environment to run Gluster

Unitrends announced today that in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) it is launching a Test Drive for Unitrends Boomerang. The AWS Test Drive is a sandbox environment that gives IT administrators, with enough free AWS datacenter time, the ability to learn about and investigate third-party solutions.

CloudPhysics has released Exploration Mode, allowing administrators to identify the root causes of server issues by interactively revealing resource consumption patterns and environment changes over time. Exploration Mode is available as part of its analytics solution for VMware users.

Today Sphere 3D Corp announced that it has joined the Microsoft Enterprise Cloud Alliance Program. As part of the program Sphere 3D will utilize Microsoft Azure cloud computing platform to deliver virtual application, virtual desktop, and enterprise storage solutions.
