Eaton Introduces New Power Xpert 9395 High Performance UPS

by Adam Armstrong

Eaton Corporation announced a new uninterruptible power system (UPS) for small- to mid-sized data centers, the Power Xpert 9395 high-performance model. The new high-performance models include 200-600 kilowatts (kW)/kilovolt-amperes (kVA) in North America. These latest models complete the Xpert 9395 portfolio. This portfolio can help reduce TCO and are scalable to meet the ever-increasing power requirements the industry faces.

The new models are all about lowering costs through efficiency and reliability. Using Eaton’s Energy Saver System, the new platform claims a 99% efficiency across most loads, double-conversion efficiency of up to 97%, and no less than 95% efficiency at loads down to 15% with the Variable Module Management System. The new 9395 also has inherent redundancy engineered to share the load when power capacity is below 50-75% for enhanced reliability.

The Power Xpert 9395 High Performance UPS not only saves on costs through efficiency, it saves space with its modular design (Eaton claims 20% more power in the same footprint of a traditional UPS). If users need more power for their data center they can add more 300 kW power modules or connect multiple UPSs electrically and mechanically. The new UPS produces 33% less heat, again potentially saving more through reduced HVAC costs.

Another benefit of this new UPS is Eaton’s PredictPulse. PredictPulse is a remote monitoring services that runs 24/7. It collects and analyzes data from the UPS and reports it to Eaton’s monitoring center every 15 minutes. This lets technicians alert users of problems and provide them with service, though there is still an alert system through the user’s secure online dashboard and mobile application.
