Today Quantum Corp announced three new solutions that are aimed at helping companies address the challenges that unstructured data growth presents in a cost-effective manner. Quantum is addressing these challenges with three solutions: Quantum Artico NAS, Lattus extended online storage, and through a joint solution of Quantum’s DXi appliances and Rocket Arkivio Autostor software.

Unstructured data is growing by the day with some making estimates as high as 80% of all data in organizations being unstructured. While there are quite a few insights that can be garnered from unstructured data most of it sits inactive on organizations primary storage. This results in a high cost way to store inactive data. Quantum’s new solutions are a cost-effective way to manage unstructured data.

Artico NAS

Quantum’s Artico NAS is a tiered storage solution that can scale to petabytes and is powered by StorNext 5. Artico is an intelligent NAS, enabling customers to store data on the proper tier. The NAS also enables users can move data to the cloud or tape. Files can be moved back and forth seamlessly through a combination of Arkivio Autostor and StorNext enabled policies. Other benefits include:

  • Artico’s integrated disk storage extends online access to stored content while reducing the need for primary storage.
  • NAS connectivity makes Artico easy to deploy and integrate into a data center and is well-suited to a wide range of environments.
  • With its intelligent data movement capabilities supporting LTO tape, LTFS, object storage, and cloud archive targets, Artico balances data access with storage TCO.
  • Intelligent policies can also create multiple archive copies and support multiple archive targets to deliver powerful levels of protection for archive data.
  • Combining Artico with Arkivio Autostor enables customers to share, store and protect files without backup software.

Lattus

Lattus is an extended online storage offering that can scale to hundreds of petabytes, has self-healing protection from data loss, easily integrates with existing workflows, and reduces capital and operating costs. Lattus will now integrate datacenter archive 6TB HDDs which will increase density and lower costs.

DXi appliances combined with Rocket Arkivio Autostor software

Quantum’s DXi appliances are deduplication solutions that provide high performance backup. By combining with Rocket Arkivio Autostor software, the DXi4700 and DXi6900 can now be used simultaneously as backup and for native format archiving.  Now the DXi solutions act as both a backup and archive improving ROI. Other benefits include:

  • Arkivio Autostor provides a comprehensive solution to assess data attributes and enable intelligent policies based on those attributes for moving unstructured data from primary storage to a DXi deduplication appliance.
  • The combination of a DXi appliance and Arkivio software can help customers save in excess of 60% on total storage costs for each TB of unstructured data that is moved from primary storage to archive, while retaining access to the data when needed.
  • By storing files in their native format, Arkivio offers long-term data retention independent from backup software applications.
