MSI is showing a 48RU NVIDIA MGX rack at the OCP Global Summit in San Jose this week, built from four liquid-cooled CG681-S6093 servers stacked under an NVIDIA Spectrum-4 SN5600 switch and an SN2201 out-of-band switch. Each 6U server takes up to eight NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition liquid-cooled GPUs, so the rack as configured holds up to 32 of them. The booth also carries the 2U CG290-S3063, which now lists the RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell Server Edition among its supported GPUs, and the XpertStation WS300 desktop based on NVIDIA DGX Station.
The rack is the four-system configuration MSI described at COMPUTEX in June, now assembled on a show floor with its switching in place. The SN5600 handles scale-out Ethernet across the four nodes while the SN2201 carries management traffic, and MSI’s pitch is that compute, networking, and liquid cooling arrive as one rack-level unit for high-density accelerated computing, with the same MGX building blocks available in smaller systems for customers who are not ready for a full rack.
“As AI infrastructure scales, customers need more than GPU performance alone. Cooling, networking, and system design all have to work together,” said Danny Hsu, General Manager of MSI’s Enterprise Platform Solutions. “Our focus is to provide practical deployment options that help customers scale AI infrastructure from individual systems to rack-level environments.”
CG681-S6093 Liquid-Cooled 6U MGX Server
Each CG681-S6093 pairs dual AMD EPYC 9006 Series processors with up to eight liquid-cooled RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs, up to eight NVIDIA ConnectX-8 SuperNICs with 400Gbps Ethernet per port, PCIe 6.0 expansion, and up to 32 DDR5 DIMM slots. Fully populated, that works out to one SuperNIC per GPU and up to 3.2Tbps of Ethernet per server into the SN5600. MSI has not yet published a product page with storage, power supply, or coolant loop details for the server, so the OCP and COMPUTEX announcements are the only public specifications.
CG290-S3063 Adds RTX PRO 4500 in 2U
For smaller footprints, the CG290-S3063 is a 2U MGX platform with up to four GPUs, and MSI’s OCP list for it includes the RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell Server Edition beside the H200 NVL and RTX PRO 6000. MSI’s spec page lists a single Intel Xeon 6500P or 6700P series processor with 136 PCIe lanes, 16 DDR5 RDIMM slots at up to 6400MT/s, eight PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, four rear hot-swap U.2 NVMe bays, and two M.2 ports. The RTX PRO 4500 is the card we tested in an HPE ProLiant DL145 Gen11, where it delivered 2.7x the throughput of the L4 on vLLM serving.
XpertStation WS300 Gains Windows and Two-Node Clustering
De XpertStation WS300 is MSI’s DGX Station build around the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Desktop Superchip, with up to 748GB of coherent memory and dual 400GbE through an integrated ConnectX-8 SuperNIC. New since June: MSI now says the system supports both Linux and Windows.
