On August 21st Amazon Web Services (AWS), announced the availability of T3 instances; the next generation of burstable general-purpose instances for Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2). The new T3 services are generally cheaper per hour than T2 and are designed for applications with variable CPU usage that experience occasional spikes in demand.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced a collaboration with Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, on August 20th. According to the announcement, HPE, Alibaba Cloud, and Intel are collaborating to certify Apsara Stack cloud services on HPE platforms; including HPE ProLiant Gen10.

Today Cohesity announced the release of its SaaS-based management solution, Helios. Helios uses a single dashboard to allow customers to see, manage, and take action on their secondary data and applications globally. The solution also leverages AI in order to help customers gain insights from their secondary data.

NetApp reported earnings for its first fiscal quarter of 2019 that ended July 27, 2018. The company delivered fairly good numbers. It stock seemed to bit all over the map after the earnings report but generally down as of this writing, but up from the beginning of the quarter.

Cisco reported both its fourth quarter and full year earnings for its fiscal 2018. The company’s numbers were good and able to beat expectations. Cisco’s stock is roughly where it was a quarter ago, up slightly this morning, and up a great deal in a year.
