Today NVIDA announced its intent to acquire Cumulus Networks. NVIDIA isn’t exactly on an acquisition frenzy, but they did recently acquire Mellanox as well. While the Mellanox deal went for just shy of $7 billion, there doesn’t seem to be a word yet on the price tag of Cumulus.
Today, Cumulus Networks released the latest version of NetQ, 3.0. NetQ is a realtime network monitoring and analytics tool. JR Rivers and Nolan Leake founded Cumulus Networks in 2010. NetQ is one of their two main products. The other is an open-source Linux (Debian based) operating system for network switches.
Cisco and Google made a joint announcement. They are hoping to release a turnkey networking solution that currently has the very long name of: Cisco SD-WAN (Software Defined-Wide Area Network) Cloud Hub with Google Cloud. The new switches belong to the SN4000 family and are powered by the company’s own scalable 12.8 Tbps Ethernet switch ASIC, Spectrum 3. Mellanox was founded in 1999 and provides data center network solutions. NVIDIA is in the process of buying Mellanox for $6.9 billion.
