Created by Veeam founders Ratmir Timashev and Andrei Baronov, Object First helps midsize enterprise organizations ransomware-proof their backups by delivering “out-of-the-box immutability” or Ootbi. ![]() Designed and optimized for backup performance and Instant Recovery, Ootbi provides ingest speeds up to 4GB/s for as little as $11TB per month. The appliance delivers backup storage, which can be racked, stacked, and powered in 15 minutes. With ransomware attacks expected to increase, organizations are preparing for the eventual incident. Proper backup and recovery strategies leverage out-of-the-box immutable storage that does not require in-house security expertise. David Bennett, Object First’s new CEO, said: “The ability to store massive amounts of unstructured data has led to object storage becoming the de facto choice for cloud storage, but current on-premises solutions aren’t optimized for backup and recovery. This makes data management options unnecessarily complex and expensive, requiring more resources and overhead. We have a vision for a backup appliance that ransomware proofs Veeam backups with out-of-the-box immutability without sacrificing performance and simplicity to meet budget constraints.” ![]() Ootbi provides ransomware resiliency that is easy to deploy, manage, and scale. The appliance delivers an immutable primary object storage target for on-premises Veeam backups and leverages the new release of Veeam Backup & Replication™ v12 Smart Object Storage API (SOSAP). | **MODELS** | **Ootbi 64TB** | **Ootbi 128TB** | | --- | --- | --- | | CAPACITY  | | | | Usable Capacity Per Node | 64 TB | 128 TB | | Maximum Nodes Per Cluster | 4 | 4 | | DISK ARRANGEMENT | | | |  Primary Array | 10 x 8 TB SAS HDD (RAID 6) | 10 x 16 TB SAS HDD (RAID 6) | |  Hot Spare | 1 x 8 TB SAS HDD | 1 x 16 TB SAS HDD | |  Dedicated OS Disks | 2 x 240 GB SATA SSD (RAID 1) | 2 x 240 GB SATA SSD (RAID 1) | |  Cache | 1 x 1.6 TB NVMe | 1 x 1.6 TB NVMe | | SPECIFICATIONS  | | | |  Form Factor | 2U Rackmount | 2U Rackmount | |  Dimensions (W x H x D) | 19” x 3.5” x 25.5” | 19” x 3.5” x 25.5” | |  Network Interface | 2 x 10GBase-T – Onboard | 2 x 10GBase-T – Onboard | | 2 x SFP+ 10Gb/port – Card | 2 x SFP+ 10Gb/port – Card | |  Management | Dedicated IPMI 2.0 – RJ45 | Dedicated IPMI 2.0 – RJ45 | | POWER  | | | | Total Output Power | 1000W/1200W | 1000W/1200W | |  Input | 100-127Vac / 15-12A / 50-60Hz | 100-127Vac / 15-12A / 50-60Hz | | 200-240Vac / 8.5-7A/ 50-60 Hz | 200-240Vac / 8.5-7A/ 50-60 Hz | | +12V | Max: 83A / Min: 0A (100-127Vac) | Max: 83A / Min: 0A (100-127Vac) | | Max: 100A / Min: 0A (200-240Vac) | Max: 100A / Min: 0A (200-240Vac) | | Max: 100A / Min: 0A (200-240Vdc) | Max: 100A / Min: 0A (200-240Vdc) | Key features of Object First include: - **Ransomware-proof:** Out-of-the-box immutability eliminates the risk of ransomware infiltrating backup data, while a factory-hardened operating system assures data integrity. - **Simple:** Object First can be racked, stacked, and installed in 15 minutes. Users can scale performance and capacity by simply adding a node. No security expertise is required. - **Powerful:** With ingest speeds exceeding 4.0 GB/s, Object First optimizes Instant Recovery, enabling users to run failed workloads directly from backup within minutes. - **Affordable:** Offering an impressive price-performance ratio, Object First eliminates the need to sacrifice recoverability and availability to meet budget constraints. Ootbi is generally available starting February 14, 2023, through its growing channel partner ecosystem.
