Seagate has announced volume distribution of their tenth-generation 10TB Enterprise HDD. This drive is the flagship offering of Seagate's nearline portfolio, and is distinct from conventional HDDs through its use of Helium to create an almost frictionless environment. This approach ultimately reduces friction on the platters, allowing spindles to function more efficiently and last longer. Seagate has optimized this HDD for use in large-scale cloud infrastructures.

WD Gold Datacenter HDDs Announced

WD has announced the expansion of its HDD portfolio with with the addition of the new WD Gold datacenter hard drives. WD Announces 8TB/16TB Models of Hard Drives and External Storage Solutions

Western Digital Corporation has announced the addition of 8TB drives to its line of storage solutions for NAS, video surveillance and desktop external use cases. Each of these storage solutions will be equipped with HelioSeal helium-technology 8TB HDDs, which will allow for both maximum storage and efficient performance. WD has also indicated that some products will have 16TB capacities as well, consisting of two 8TB drives in RAID 0.

Seagate 8TB NAS HDD Announced

Dubbed the largest NAS optimized drive on today’s market, Seagate has announced their 8TB NAS HDD, allowing businesses to use both fewer drives and fewer costly enclosures. Western Digital/HGST Release 10TB PMR Helium HDD

Today Western Digital announced that it is shipping the world’s first 10TB perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) HDD, the HGST Ultrastar He10. Though a 10TB drive was announced earlier this year it was an SMR drive. The He10 is drop in ready and currently has the highest capacity, lowest power consumption per TB, and highest reliability rating on the market.

Seagate Announces The World’s First 8TB Surveillance HDD

Today at the China Public Security Expo (CPSE) 2015 in Shenzhen, China, Seagate Technology announced the highest capacity surveillance drive with its 8TB surveillance hard drive disk (HDD). Last month Seagate announced that it was able to bump up the capacity in several of its other HDDs. These new HDD is the highest capacity HDD on the market specifically designed for surveillance storage.
