# Fujitsu ETERNUS Leveraging NetApp Software

Today Fujitsu announced that it was enhancing its strategic partnership with NetApp for data management. The Companies announced that the four new storage series of Fujitsu ETERNUS leveraging NetApp data management software. The companies state that the deepening or their partnership can help make customers more efficient at management and the rapid us of data, which in turn, help with their digital transformations.

As part of the partnership, Fujitsu is release four new ETERNUS models that are aimed at entry and midrange: ETERNUS AB, ETERNUS HB, ETERNUS AX and ETERNUS HX. All four of these storage products will leverage NetApp data management software. The new models not only help customers leverage their data faster, they are said to lower operational management costs as well.

The Fujitsu ETERNUS AB and ETERNUS HB series are aimed at database usage and HPC. These systems maximize the performance of SSDs to realize High-Speed Data Processing and High-Volume Data Communication with servers by supporting advanced data transaction protocol. The ETERNUS AB and ETERNUS HB series can be leveraged in hybrid cloud environments where they can help to cut operating and administrative costs by transferring data for backup archives to public clouds.

The Fujistu ETERNUS AX and ETERNUS HX series are aimed at virtualized systems and file servers. The companies state that these offerings have both the high response performance required by virtualized systems through block access and simplified data management with file access, all in one storage.

Moving forward, Fujitsu will be adding more solutions (including AI, hybrid cloud, and HPC) that will leverage NetApp software. It is also interesting to note that NetApp is getting more into the software/licensing arena. While lots of companies are going the all software route, NetApp is not looking down that road. It is taking some of its more popular software and working with other companies, such as Fujitsu and Lenovo.
