OnLogic has broadened its range of industrial computing solutions with the launch of the Karbon 520 Series. This new edge computer platform is designed to operate reliably in some of the harshest and most variable conditions encountered in modern technology deployments.

![OnLogic Karbon 520 Series]()

Unveiled today, the Karbon 520 Series builds on the foundation laid by the recently released Helix 520 Series, sharing a common architecture that emphasizes scalability and performance. While the Helix line is designed for traditional industrial environments, the Karbon 520 offers enhanced durability and adaptability, making it ideal for mobile systems, vehicles, and outdoor industrial settings.

## **Built to Withstand Harsh Conditions**

Some models offer fanless operation and can function in environments ranging from -40°C to 70°C, enabling deployment in extreme conditions, such as freezing temperatures and high heat. The system has passed MIL-STD-810H testing for resistance to shock and vibration, which makes it ideal for mobile robotics, transportation, and field-deployed systems that must endure constant physical stress.

In addition to its rugged thermal and mechanical features, the Karbon 520 also incorporates automotive power input with programmable ignition timing, allowing for seamless integration into vehicle electrical systems. This positions it well for fleet management, in-vehicle analytics, and other transport-focused use cases.

Medical deployments are also within the scope of the Karbon 520, as the system meets the 60601-1-2 EMC immunity standards. This allows for use in environments with strict electrical safety and interference standards, such as healthcare facilities and medical research labs.

## **Scalable AI-Ready Performance**

The Karbon 520 is powered by Intel’s latest Core Ultra processor, bringing both computing performance and integrated AI acceleration through an onboard neural processing unit (NPU). This enables more efficient on-device inference workloads, which is essential in environments where latency, connectivity, or data security are concerns.

![OnLogic K521]()

Users can equip the system with up to 96GB of DDR5 memory and have the option to expand its capabilities further with dedicated GPU support, including compatibility with NVIDIA MXM AI modules. This level of hardware flexibility is designed for industries where computing tasks are becoming increasingly intensive and require localized processing without compromising reliability.

## **Modular Connectivity for Demanding Use Cases**

OnLogic’s ModBay expansion system offers modular I/O configurations to meet specific project requirements, and PCIe expansion provides a path for custom hardware needs, such as specialized sensors or additional compute accelerators.

By aligning the Karbon 520 Series with the Helix 520 Series through a shared platform architecture, OnLogic appears to be emphasizing scalability and simplified deployment. Organizations can prototype on one system and then scale to different environments, such as industrial or ruggedized, without needing to rework software or hardware integrations.

With increasing pressure on industries to process data locally and in real time, especially in remote or mobile environments, the Karbon 520’s blend of performance, durability, and modularity makes it a comprehensive solution for the edge computing landscape.
