The latest version incorporates capabilities from important open-source projects like Istio, Envoy, Kubernetes, and Spring Cloud. The new version also leverages Platform Automation to keep the platform updated in an easier fashion. ![](https://www.storagereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/StorageReview-Pivotal-PCF2_5.jpg) Pivotal refers to its PCF as one of the world’s most powerful cloud-native platforms. The latest version, version 2.5, like the previous versions is powered by industrialized open source (the larger open source projects and what Pivotal sees as more useful to itself, that are tested and used for its customers) and is aimed at delivering superior business outcomes.   **PCF 2.5 comes with a slew of new capabilities. Below are the new, and future, capabilities:** - Weighted routing that uses Istio and Envoy to simplify blue-green deployments (beta) - Platform Automation for PCF, the engine of the perpetual upgrade machine (beta) - Windows Server 2019, Microsoft’s most container-friendly OS yet, now powers PAS for Windows (coming soon) - Consume upstream Kubernetes with the new PKS family - Use metadata on API resources throughout PAS to share context - Users can keep tabs on all apps, wherever they run with multi-foundation Apps Manager (coming soon) - Steeltoe 2.2 improves the stability of microservices, simplifies connections to MongoDB - Spring Cloud Data Flow for PCF 1.4: Wire up data pipelines across Kubernetes and Cloud Foundry (coming soon) - Single Sign-On for PCF 1.9 will help get more done faster with a new, streamlined dashboard (coming soon) - Detecting manifest changes with Ops Manager is much easier **Availability** The latest version of PCF is available now and those new to the product can try it out for free. Pivotal has released a fairly extensive blog detailing the benefits of the current and future benefits that can be found in the link below.  [Pivotal PCF 2.5 blog](https://content.pivotal.io/blog/pivotal-cloud-foundry-2-5-istio-envoy-make-your-developers-more-productive) [Discuss this story](http://forums.storagereview.com/index.php?/topic/41697-pivotal-cloud-foundry-25-is-now-ga/) [Sign up for the StorageReview newsletter](https://www.storagereview.com/storagereview_newsletter_signup) **Engage with StorageReview** [Newsletter](https://www.storagereview.com/storage_newsletter) |  [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/user/StorageReview "Opens in a new window") | Podcast  [iTunes](https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/storagereview-com-storage-reviews/id1060681115 "Opens in a new window")/ [Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/show/1y6VnznABhHeOSMOmbDTz0 "Opens in a new window") |  [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/storagereview/ "Opens in a new window") |  [Twitter](https://twitter.com/storagereview "Opens in a new window") |  [TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/@storagereview?
