Anker PowerHouse 555 Front

The Anker Powerhouse 555 has a 1024Wh capacity battery paired up with a 1000W inverter, making it an ideal solution to power all your essential devices and computers; even a server. The power station is equipped with 6 AC ports, 3 high-speed USB-C ports (1× 100W, 2× 60W), 2 USB-A ports, and a car outlet, providing you with a range of options to power your devices.

Another feature of the Anker Powerhouse 555 is its 200W solar input with 45% higher solar charging efficiency, making it useful for spending extended periods of time outdoors. Additionally, the power station has a unibody drop-proof structure, ensuring it’s durable enough to withstand tough conditions.

Having multiple ways to charge your portable power station like the Anker 555 PowerHouse can be incredibly helpful, especially when you’re on the go and don’t want to carry around a lot of different adapters. The 555 has a unique ability to charge over its USB-C input. This means you can use a wide range of charging sources, such as a notebook power adapter, to recharge the PowerHouse without needing to carry the main external power adapter out into the field.

One of the most significant advantages of the Anker Powerhouse 555 is its longevity. Unlike other portable power stations that offer a 2-year warranty, the Anker Powerhouse 555 comes with a 5-year full-device warranty. The power station is designed to reliably power your devices every day for 10 years, with its LiFePO4 batteries which offer over 3,000 charge cycles before the capacity drops below 80%.

At the time of this review, the Anker PowerHouse 555 has a street price of $799 and includes a 5-year warranty.

Build and Design

The Anker 555 has a solid and sturdy build, with a rigid carrying handle that makes it easy to take on the go. The front of the unit features a high-quality LCD display, which shows important information such as battery capacity, output power, and charging status. The display is very bright and easy to read and provides real-time updates, so you always know how much power you have left. A large light is also included on the front, which can help illuminate a large area without needing another flashlight. It is bright, but not focused into a blinding laser beam like other units we’ve tested.

In addition to the display, the front of the unit also includes several inputs and buttons. The top panel has a display power button, as well as USB-A and USB-C ports for charging devices. The USB-C port provides fast charging capabilities, while the USB-A port is ideal for charging smaller devices such as smartphones or tablets. The USB-C connection can also be used for charging.

Anker PowerHouse 555 Side

The front left also has a DC power jack with a dedicated power button. For higher-power devices, there are six ungrounded AC power ports, also with their own power button to turn on and off with use. A Power Saving switch is located under the AC jacks, which allows the inverter to turn off with no power draw. For situations where you want the AC power to stay on this can be disabled.

Anker PowerHouse 555 Rear

Moving to the rear of the unit, you’ll find the DC input jack, which is the only input located on the back of the PowerHouse. This jack is used to charge the unit using the included external power adapter.

In Use

We wanted to put the Anker Powerhouse 555 to the test to see how efficient it was leveraging the AC power inverter and charging circuit. During our lab testing, we measured the charge and discharge performance of the power station and calculated the efficiency percentages off the original stated capacity of 1024Wh.

When charging the PowerHouse 555 using the included 200W external power adapter, we found that it took over 5 hours to charge the power station from empty to 100%. With a battery rated for 1024Wh, the PowerHouse 555 used 1220Wh from the wall to fully charge, resulting in an efficiency percentage of 83.2%. If you aren’t heavily using the Powerhouse 555 this charging speed might not be a huge deal, but if you need to top it off frequently, Anker does offer models with faster onboard chargers.

Anker PowerHouse 555 Load

Next, we tested the discharge performance of the PowerHouse 555. We measured the capacity through discharge at 890Wh, resulting in an efficiency percentage of 87%. This was pretty good with all things considered, with our 350W load device.

Overall, we found that the efficiency of the Anker Powerhouse 555 was impressive. While it may take a bit longer to charge, it’s still able to provide long-lasting power to your devices thanks to its 1024Wh LiFePO4 battery.

Conclusion

The Anker 555 PowerHouse is a no-frills, durable, and long-lasting portable power station. It features a 1024Wh LiFePO4 battery, capable of enduring years of extended use. The power station is designed for outdoor use, boasting a unibody drop-proof structure and a 200W solar input with 45% higher solar charging efficiency. With 6 AC ports, 3 high-speed USB-C ports, 2 USB-A ports, and a car outlet, the PowerHouse is highly versatile and can power all your essential devices and appliances out in the field. Additionally, Anker stands behind the 555 PowerHouse with a 5-year full-device warranty for a worry-free experience.

The Anker 555 does have some downsides. Its 200W charger is slower compared to other units that have an onboard charger, which can prolong charge times. Also, the device lacks app support, which can be a disadvantage for some users who prefer the convenience of controlling their power station from their mobile devices. Despite these limitations, the Anker 555 PowerHouse is a great choice for those who need a simple-to-operate solution that is unlikely to ever let them down.
