ActiveStorage today announced its ActiveSAN high-performance Metadata server appliance, designed for video and film professionals. The ActiveSAN is designed to fill the void created by Apple’s discontinuance of its Xserve server.
The ActiveSAN is a 1U rackmount server based on Intel’s Nehalem platform; it features a quad-core Xeon processor and dual power supplies. It has Linux-based remote management tools and a Mac OSX-like interface to Quantum StorNext SAN file system.
