Today Dell Software announced the release of a new data protection bundle, the Dell Backup & Disaster Recovery Suite. Through a single capacity-based licensing model, customers will have access to Dell’s full backup and recovery software portfolio. This new bundle will allow businesses to better create a solution that matches their needs versus paying too much for something that they don’t need or paying extra to gain something they can’t be without.

The Dell Backup & Disaster Recovery Suite includes AppAssure, NetVault Backup, and vRanger, giving customers three variations of critical enterprise and virtualization backup software in one package. The combination of the three solutions will help to reduce cost of backup while lowering the total cost of ownership, all the while making their business more resilient.

AppAssure – is an easy-to-use, advanced data protection solution that unifies backup, replication and recovery. AppAssure features include: protecting workloads, in the cloud, on physical servers, and on virtual machines; a recovery time objective that restores operations almost instantly; automated recovery testing and backup verification; recovers single file to complete machine; creates standby VMs for disaster recovery.

NetVault Backup – is a comprehensive backup and recovery software solution allowing enterprises data protection in diverse IT environments. NetVault Backup features include: simplified server backup and recovery across both physical and virtual environments; an intuitive, easy-to-use interface; advanced data protection for data stored on NAS devices; backup to tape or disk to leverage data deduplication minimizing storage footprint.

vRanger – provides high-speed backup and recovery in both virtual and physical environments. vRanger features include: backup, restore, and protect VMware and Hyper-V environments in minutes; quick location and restoration of files inside virtual and physical backups; disaster protection with offsite replication of VMware VMs; simple and scalable data protection for even the largest virtual environments.

With the Dell Backup & Disaster Recovery Suite, customers have access to a complete end-to-end backup and recovery solution. Installation of the suite can be done in a variety of ways including self-install, remote-install or on site. Current users of these applications can migrate to the new licensing model now, if that is of economic benefit.

Pricing and Availability

Dell Backup & Disaster Recovery Suite will be available worldwide in the third quarter of 2014. Tiered pricing starts at $5,000 per terabyte up to five terabytes but through volume discount pricing, the price can go as low as $2,250 per terabyte when customers have more than 250TB. AppAssure, NetVault Backup, and vRanger remain as stand-alone options should that licensing model make more sense.
