Google has announced the beta launch of Cloud Console for Android, allowing users to manage the Google Cloud Platform from their phone or tablet. The new app allows users to be away from their workstations as they can now receive automatic alerts when an issue occurs in their Google App Engine. Users can quickly glance at the status of their solution, set up alerts, manage their Cloud Platform resources, and access Google Cloud Monitoring performance and health graphs.

Features include:

  • Quickly view app status: Users can customize the home page with a personal selection of monitoring graphs, a billing estimate or Cloud Platform service status information.
  • Get alerts and manage incidents: Cloud Console for Android integrates with Cloud Monitoring, allowing for automated incident tracking when system metrics deviate. In addition, users can configure alerts to display directly in the Android notification drawer with the option to enter comments so team members know the issue is being worked on.
  • View App Engine and Compute Engine properties and make quick changes: The new Google app supports viewing details and monitoring graphs for App Engine and Compute Engine instances. Users can also invoke a number of core operations, including changing the App Engine version or starting/stopping a Compute Engine instance.

Availability

The beta app is now available in the Google Play Store, at no cost, under the name Cloud Console. Google also indicates that they are currently working on an iOS version.
