Crucial has introduced its v4 Solid State Drive (SSD), designed to upgrade the storage performance of SATA 2 (3Gb/s) systems. SATA 2 is the predominant interface for systems manufactured before 2011, and the v4 SSD focuses on maximizing the transfer capabilities of such mainstream desktops and laptops.

HP has announced that its HP3PAR 10000 Storage platform now supports all-SSD configurations with up to 512 SSDs per array. HP also expects to announce the availability of automated data mobility between its 3PAR P10000 Storage and HP’s ProLiant server platform in the near future.

LSI Corporation has announced enhanced power consumption features for its SandForce SF-2200/2100 Client Flash Storage Processors (FSPs) geared for ultrabook applications. These FSPs support SATA 6Gb/s connectivity from 24-512GB of NAND flash memory.  

Fusion-io has announced a partnership with NetApp to integrate Fusion-io’s server-side flash and caching products with the NetApp Virtual Storage Tier. The two companies are collaborating on compatibility between the Fusion ioMemory platform and NetApp’s Data ONTAP operating system, as well as caching solutions including NetApp Flash Cache, NetApp Flash Pool and Fusion-io caching software.

D-Link has announced the DSN-6000 Series iSCSI SAN Array, designed with feedback from small to mid-size enterprises, state and federal government agencies, and educational institutions, with capacities up to 180TB. The DSN-6000 series offers data protection features including snapshot, volume cloning, and remote replication at no additional cost.

Dell’s new Big Data Retention Solution combines Dell object storage with optimized RainStor database technology to provide consolidated and scalable storage for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data. The solution optimizes RainStor for Dell’s DX Object Storage Platform, allowing customers to add capacity in amounts as small as 2TB, scaling to petabytes and billions of objects.

At Fortune Brainstorm Tech, Michael Dell announced the Dell Fluid Data Storage Fund, a new $60 million early stage investment fund. This fund is part of Dell Ventures and offers a strategic complement to Dell’s existing M&A, R&D, and partnership channels for the development and monetization of new storage intellectual property.

Patriot Memory has launched its new Gauntlet Node 2.5” hard drive or SSD enclosure, offering up to one terabyte of storage that can be accessed via USB 3.0 or built-in WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n. The enclosure can be powered by an internal battery for completely wireless operation.
