Silicon Valley startup Pure Storage has taken itself out of stealth mode by introducing its first product, an all-flash memory based enterprise-level storage array. The company, founded by veterans of Veritas and Yahoo!, plans to show its flagship product it calls the FlashArray for the first time publicly next week at VMWorld in Las Vegas.

LaCie has announced its NAS OS 2.0, an update to its existing operating system for its network-attached storage (NAS) devices. LaCie cites improved usability, performance, RAID management, and backup. It additionally offers remote file access.
Corsair has added 60GB and 90GB capacities to their family of Force GT and Force 3 SSDs. The 90GB drives are the first SandForce SF-2200 SATA 6Gb/s SSDs to ship thus far. While they may be small in capacity, these SSDs still offer tremendous speeds, with the 60GB Force GT cranking out 555 MB/s reads.

Samsung has announced their new family of SSDs, the SSD 830 series. The new drives will offer a SATA 6Gb/s interface and will be the only current generation SATA 6Gb/s SSDs built entirely in-house; leveraging Samsung NAND, processor and firmware.
LSI has released an update to its SSD-caching software package for their MegaRAID 6Gb/s SATA+SAS controller cards. The software allows a tier of SSDs to be added to a HDD-based array and serve as cache to increase transaction speeds. The company claims a 13X increase in transaction rates with a 82% cost savings.
Popular teardown site iFixit has released a kit that allows a second hard drive (or SSD) to be added to the current generation Mac Mini (mid 2011). Apple left the space available for the second drive largely for their Mac Mini Server model, which includes two 500GB drives but costs $400 more.
