Intel Pro 1500 Series Headlines New Intel SSD Professional Family

Intel’s new SSD Professional Family leverages Intel’s track record for reliable enterprise SSDs to compete for a share of the market targeting performance ultrabook and workstations. The Pro 1500 Series, first in the SSD Professional Family, will be available in capacities from 80GB to 480GB in 2.5-inch and M.2 form factors and leverage LSI SandForce's SF-2200 controller. Integration with Intel’s vPro technology, as well as hardware encryption and Trusted Computing Group Opal management integration on selected models, round out a feature list that will appeal to enterprise customers looking for better performance than hard drives can offer.

According to Intel's benchmarks, the SSD Pro 1500 Series reaches peak transfer rates of 540 MB/s and random IOPS up to 80,000. The Pro 1500 Series was engineered to reduce employee downtime, and according to Intel, the Pro 1500 Series beats industry standards by achieving an Annualized Failure Rate (AFR) of less than 1%.

When deployed with 4th generation Intel Core processors that incorporate Intel’s vPro technology, power consumption is reduced from milliwatts to microwatts. vPro integration also allows IT managers to remotely manage drives and extract diagnostics using Intel Setup and Configuration Service (SCS) version 9.0. SSD management can be accomplished remotely whether the platform is powered on or off.
