Synology Announces DiskStation DS213j
Synology is announcing the immediate release of its DiskStation DS213j dual-bay NAS devices powered by increased RAM at 512MB and a 1.2Ghz processor with an integrated FPU to generate multi-sized thumbnail images faster than before. This enhanced hardware within the DS213j is designed for home users who require control over their cloud-accessible content. The DS213j also runs on Synology's DiskStation Manager (DSM 4.2) that we recently announced, which makes features and accessibility easily available for users. The DS213j will support further updates down the road to keep the NAS current.
One of the design goals with the Synology DiskStation DS213j is to make users feel more comfortable about using a NAS to store their important data, whether its family photos, important documents, movies and music or anything else. Setting up RAID configurations can make some users uncomfortable due to assumed complexity. However, using Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) simplifies management to make the user experience more pleasant and so that data is protected in the event of hard drive failures. This is accomplished while still maximizing available storage capacity.
Amplifying the experience for greater usability, Synology also provides a range of mobile apps including DS photo+, DS audio and DS cloud. These apps make it easy for users to access their pictures, songs and files even when they are away from home.
The Synology DiskStation DS213j will be available sometime near the middle of May.
