Veeam Announces VCP Launch Partners for Veeam Availability Suite v8
Veeam Software has announced the Veeam Cloud Provider (VCP) partners that will support Veeam Cloud Connect on the same day the new Veeam Availability Suite v8 becomes generally available, slated for a release later this quarter.
Part of the new Veeam Availability Suite v8 is Veeam Cloud Connect, which gives Veeam customers a fully integrated, secure, and efficient way to move backups to an offsite backup repository managed by the service provider of their choice. This helps to avoid the upfront capital investment of their own offsite infrastructure. Veeam indicates that service providers will get a simple, yet powerful, platform to deliver fast and secure backup to the cloud for their customers.
Veeam recommends that IT organizations follow the 3-2-1 rule, which is the method of having three copies of data on two different kinds of media, one of which is offsite. In addition, Veeam Cloud Connect enables IT to fulfill offsite requirements without having to invest in offsite infrastructure or management, as cloud resources are available on demand.
Both current VCP partners and new Veeam service providers can take advantage of Veeam Cloud Connect to grow their customer base and recurring revenue streams. Basic setup can be completed in less than 10 minutes all the while providing the infrastructure management capabilities a service provider needs in order to offer an offsite backup repository service to customers. Additionally, Veeam adds, the combination of storage and compute allows it to efficiently store even large backups in the cloud. Veeam also gives VCP partners the ability to offer fully managed D2D2C (disk-to-disk-to-cloud) backup solutions that backup to local disk first before sending the backup offsite to the cloud. Many of these VCP partners offer disaster recovery planning, testing, and recovery services as well.
Pricing and Availability
The Veeam Cloud Connect platform for service providers is slated for a Q4 2014 concurrent release with Veeam Availability Suite v8 and Veeam Backup & Replication v8.
Pricing is set at a per virtual machine (VM) rate. In North America, pricing starts at $4.50 per month per VM. In other regions, the platform is available to service providers at local pricing. Veeam Cloud Connect components that allow Veeam customers to connect to offsite backup repositories are included in all editions of Veeam Availability Suite v8 and Veeam Backup & Replication v8 at no additional cost.
