WD My Cloud EX2 Now Available

WD has announced the My Cloud EX2, the newest addition to their line of personal cloud storage devices, offering a feature-rich, stable, and secure network storage solution of up to 8TB. The EX2 is designed specifically for small businesses, pro users, workgroups and anyone else looking for a reliable way to save, share, back up, stream and manage large amounts of digital data. The My Cloud EX2 features the WD Red line of hard drives, which are specifically designed for home and small office NAS systems, though the EX2 is compatible with other hard drives from other vendors. Users will be able to protect their data with remote backup to another My Cloud EX2 or My Cloud EX4, integrated cloud backup or LAN/WAN backup. Additionally, the EX2 supports WD SmartWare Pro for PC users and is Apple Time Machine compatibility for Mac users.

My Cloud EX2 features advanced data serving options such as an integrated file server, FTP server, backup server and a P2P download server. Users may also download and run a host of third party apps, including aMule, Icecast, Joomla!, phpBB, phpMyAdmin, Transmission, SqueezeCenter, and more.  Users can also stream videos and photos to their TVs, media players, gaming consoles and other DLNA/UPnP devices with the included Twonky 7.2 server, DLNA-certified 1.5 media server, and built-in iTunes server.
