2TB Western Digital My Passport Portable Hard Drive Released

Western Digital has announced their next generation WD My Passport portable hard drive that’s built around a single 2.5" hard drive with capacities ranging from 500GB to 2TB. The 2TB capacity features a 15mm four platter hard drive that makes a new high-water mark for capacity in drive of that size. The enclosures have also been redesigned to be more streamlined and feature five different colors, along with USB 3.0 for both speed and drive power.

Other highlights of the updated WD My Passport line include:

  • WD SmartWare automatic backup software
  • WD Security password protection and hardware encryption
  • Enclosure finishes resistant to scratches and fingerprints

Western Digital My Passport drives are available in 500GB, 750GB, 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB capacities with MSRPs of $129.99, $149.99, $179.99, $199.99 and $249.99 respectively.
