Code42 has announced enhanced security and productivity features in its Code32 EDGE Platform. The EDGE Platform powers both CrashPlan, an enterprise endpoint backup, and SharePlan, an enterprise file sync/share. These new enhancements are aimed at increasing productivity without compromising endpoint data security.

Code42's new security features are two-fold. The first new security feature is two-factor authentication: two types of identification are required say, a known password and a security code received on a separate device. The second security feature is Single Sign-on (SSO). SSO allows user of CrashPlan and SharePlan to sign-on using on shared set of enterprise login credentials. Only one set of credentials have to be remembered and IT will spend less time working on lost passwords and usernames.

Code42 has also broadened their support for SAML 2.0 that allows IT using multiple identity providers to integrate with Code42 EDGE Platform. Organizations will now have a single point of integration enabling users of CrashPlan and SharePlan to use them alongside other identity management providers (Active Directory Federation Services, Centrify, Ping Identity, Okta) without being required to build custom API integrations to connect them. Working with multiple identity providers is now just a configuration activity within the Code42 administration console.
