D-Link has announced the DSN-6000 Series iSCSI SAN Array, designed with feedback from small to mid-size enterprises, state and federal government agencies, and educational institutions, with capacities up to 180TB. The DSN-6000 series offers data protection features including snapshot, volume cloning, and remote replication at no additional cost.

The DSN-6000 series includes the DSN-6110 and DSN-6410 iSCSI SAN arrays, both with a 2U form factor that supports up to 36TB of internal capacity across 12 SAS/SATA drive bays. Utilizing up to four, 12-bay DSN-6020 expansion JBOD enclosures with 3TB drives, DSN-6000 primary arrays can scale to a total of 180TB.

Data Protection Functionality
The DSN-6000 offers data protection in the event of dual drive failure without the overhead of mirroring. Snapshot technology also ensures data can be restored from a point-in-time copy and without the need for full restores and volume cloning can backup data manually or on a schedule. With the DSN-6000 series, one replication source target can be set up with multiple destination targets, allowing administrators to replicate data to different locations via manual operation or automated scheduling.

Interfaces and Connectivity
The DSN-6110 includes (4) 1GbE Copper iSCSI data ports per controller offering throughput of up to 900MB per second and the DSN-6410 includes (2) 10GbE iSCSI data ports per controller, offering throughput of up to 1300MB per second. The DSN-6110 offers up to 200,000 IOPS and the DSN-6410 offers up to 220,000 IOPS.

D-Link’s open architecture supports mixing non-proprietary SAS and SATA drives of various manufacturers, capacities, technologies, and speeds. When a SATA drive is used in a dual-controller configuration, or when supporting 3TB capacity or larger SATA drives in a single-controller configuration, each SATA drive requires a DSN-654 SATA bridge board. This also applies to SATA drives installed in DSN-6020 expansion enclosures.

Pricing and Availability
DSN-6000 models will be available in August, with estimated pricing as follows:

• DSN-6110 4x1GbE iSCSI SAN Array, 12 Bays, 2U, w/ Primary Controller – $8,224.99
• DSN-6410 2x10GbE iSCSI SAN Array, 12 Bays, 2U, w/ Primary Controller – $10,024.99
• DSN-6020 Expansion JBOD, 12 Bays, 2U – $4,814.99
