Dell Expands Storage, Cloud, and Edge Automation to Power Intelligent Data Centers

by Harold Fritts

At DTW 2025, Dell unveiled significant advances across storage, cyber resiliency, private cloud automation, and edge operations with NativeEdge.

At Dell Technology World 2025, Dell introduced a suite of innovations across storage, cyber resilience, software, and integrated solutions, empowering customers to design and operate modern disaggregated data centers. As organizations encounter increasing pressure to efficiently manage and secure both modern and legacy workloads across on-premises, cloud, and edge environments, Dell’s latest innovations are designed to meet the evolving needs of IT and business leaders. The company’s approach to disaggregated infrastructure integrates shared compute, networking, and storage resource pools, all managed through software-driven automation, robust security, and strong partner integrations.

Advanced Storage and Cyber Resiliency

Dell’s latest storage and cyber resiliency solutions are designed to deliver the performance, efficiency, and protection required by today’s data-driven enterprises. Dell PowerProtect Data Domain All-Flash appliances set a new standard for cyber resilience, offering data restores up to four times faster and replication performance twice as fast as previous generations. These appliances are also more efficient, occupying 40% less rack space and reducing power consumption by up to 80% compared to traditional HDD-based systems.

PowerScale software enhancements further strengthen Dell’s object storage and cyber resilience capabilities. The PowerScale Cybersecurity Suite provides comprehensive tools to protect, access, and recover critical data. At the same time, new features enable customers to boost application performance with Amazon EC2 Cloud Burst and reduce backup costs by leveraging Dell ObjectScale, Amazon S3, or Wasabi.

PowerStore’s Advanced Ransomware Detection leverages AI analytics to validate data integrity and minimize downtime from ransomware attacks. This announcement coincides with PowerStore’s fifth anniversary, and it now serves over 17,000 customers worldwide.

Automating Private Cloud

Dell is enhancing the deployment and management of disaggregated private cloud and edge solutions by utilizing advanced software capabilities alongside industry-leading infrastructure components. The Dell Private Cloud introduces an innovative model designed for deploying, managing, and scaling private cloud environments, leveraging cloud software integrated seamlessly with Dell’s disaggregated infrastructure.

This strategic approach allows organizations to safeguard their investments by utilizing hardware that can be reused and repurposed across various workloads, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership. Additionally, it simplifies operations through comprehensive lifecycle management, covering everything from initial setup to ongoing maintenance and eventual decommissioning. Organizations can also benefit from a flexible catalog of validated blueprints, which provide pre-configured templates to help accelerate deployment without compromising security or performance.

A significant advantage of Dell’s offering is its emphasis on automation. This is a key differentiator, enabling customers to provision a complete private cloud stack in 90% fewer steps than traditional manual processes. Moreover, customers can deliver a fully operational cluster in just two and a half hours, achieved without manual intervention, dramatically reducing potential human error and minimizing time-to-market for new applications and services. This efficiency level empowers organizations to respond swiftly to changing business demands while maintaining a robust and scalable cloud infrastructure.

The Dell Automation Platform supports Dell Private Cloud, providing secure, zero-touch onboarding and centralized management for disaggregated solutions. Dell Private Cloud simplifies operations and accelerates time-to-value for customers building modern private clouds.

Keith Bradley of Nature Fresh Farms highlighted the value of Dell Private Cloud, noting its ability to support seamless transitions between cloud ecosystems and repurpose hardware, which protects investments and enables rapid adaptation to changing business needs.

Dell NativeEdge: Streamlining Secure, Scalable Edge AI

Dell NativeEdge redefines edge operations by delivering a secure, scalable platform for running virtualized workloads, VMs, and containers across everything from compact gateways to GPU-powered clusters. The new solution supports non-Dell and legacy hardware, enabling unified management and zero-touch onboarding across distributed environments, eliminating the need for fragmented solutions.

The latest release delivers high availability with clustering and policy-based load balancing, simplifies VM imports, and integrates robust data protection through snapshots and backup APIs. The attach storage options, like PowerStore and PowerVault, allow independent scaling of compute and storage, optimizing ROI for data-intensive AI workloads.

Dell has implemented centralized authentication (LDAP, OIDC), proactive controls, and industry certifications for regulated sectors like healthcare and finance. NativeEdge also accelerates AI deployment with pre-configured Blueprints for NVIDIA frameworks and partner-driven use cases, supporting rapid, scalable application rollout. Independent analysis shows NativeEdge automation can cut deployment and management time by up to 79%, resulting in potential savings of $3.3 million.
