Today HP announced two new mobile thin clients: the HP mt43, the company’s thinnest, lightest mobile thin client and the HP mt20, a value-oriented mobile thin client. The new mobile thin clients are designed to be flexible and make on-the-go-computing easier. HP states that its new mobile thin clients can be used across a range of markets as both possess ample compute processing and graphics capabilities.

Thinner and lighter is the path that almost all mobile computers and thin clients are no different. The HP mt43 is designed to be compact while still delivering performance and durability. From a processing perspective, the mt43 comes with AMD PRO A8-9600 APU (up to 3.0 GHz) with Radeon R5 Graphics and preinstalled Windows 10 Enterprise for Thin Clients. The mt43 has a 14” LED backlit FHD anti-glare display, as well as a backlit keyboard, large-format glass touchpad, and the HP-exclusive Bang & Olufsen audio system.

For organizations that need a good deal of performance at a more cost-effective ratio, HP is releasing the mt20. The mt20 features the Intel Celeron 3865 Processor (1.8 GHz dual core) with Intel HD Graphics and comes a few choices of operating systems including Linux-based OS, HP ThinPro / Smart Zero Core, and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise for Thin Clients. The mt20 also features a 14” HD display and all-day battery life.

Both the mt43 and mt20 passed the MI-STD 810G testing, proving their durability. Both thin clients come with HP software to optimize productivity and reduce user issues. The added software includes:

  • HP Device Manager allows users to configure, manage, maintain and update their install base and security certificate assignments all from one interface.
  • HP Velocity optimizes the user experience and is especially suited to challenging network environments and improves the user experience for virtualized applications.
  • HP True Graphics allows users to view and manipulate rich, cloud-based multimedia content the way it was intended, with smooth video, high frame rates, and real-time interactivity.
  • HP Easy Shell is quick, simple and customizable and provides a clean streamlined experience for HP Thin Client Windows Embedded environments.

Availability and Pricing

Both the HP mt43 and HP mt20 mobile thin clients are available now with a starting price of $799 for the mt43 and $399 for the mt20.
