LaCie 12big Rack Storage Server Announced

LaCie has announced its latest enterprise storage device, the 12big Rack Storage Server. Powered by the Windows Storage Server 2008 R2, the 12big Rack is a comprehensive network storage solution that includes everything needed for backup or file sharing, out of the box. LaCie’s new device includes the performance of Quad LANs and comes with 6Gb/s Nearline SAS disks featuring redundant path technology that improves I/O results by over 40%. The 12big rack is available in 9TB to 36TB configurations. 

Other features include:

  • Intel Quad Core Xeon processor with 4GB RAM, powerful enough to perform multiple parallel tasks and accommodate up to 250 users
  • NAS-to-NAS backup and file serving
  • I/O ports to connect external storage and integrate as a JBOD array for massive scalability – up to 144TB
  • Hardware RAID controller that supports RAID Levels 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 or 60
  • Five free PCIe slots for dedicated applications such as 10Gb Ethernet, fibre channel, or InfiniBand
  • Configure as an iSCSI target or initiator to allow storage expansion in a cost-effective way
  • Available in 9TB, 12TB, 24TB and 36TB capacities
  • 5-year Gold Protection Plan for premium support

The protection plan also features a warranty on drives and components in addition to fast product replacement. The LaCie 12big Rack Storage Server is available now and starts at $11,299.00 for the 9TB and ranges up to $17,999 for the 36TB capacity.
