The solution offers advanced management capabilities, improved automation, monitoring, and troubleshooting to accelerate hybrid multi-cloud deployment.

ThinkAgile VX also provides single-click automatic updates, faster insights, and end-to-end simplified day-zero and day-two operational intelligence, helping customers reduce deployment time by up to 75% and achieve significant cost savings through a pay-as-you-grow billing model.

In addition, ThinkAgile VX is optimized for edge computing environments, providing the performance, resiliency, and security required to run cloud-native applications. It is integrated with VMware Edge Compute Stack (ECS) software and Lenovo ThinkEdge hardware, offering an efficient way to deploy edge computing in a range of environments.

VMware vSAN ESA

vSAN ESA is a single-tier storage solution that uses NVMe-based flash devices to reach a wide range of price and performance targets. The transition from disk groups to storage pools eliminates the need for a dedicated cache pool and allows for more efficient use of devices.

The new architecture also introduces a log-structured file system and object manager, enabling it to achieve near-device-level performance while storing data in an efficient way.

Other vSAN ESA benefits include:

  • Higher performance targets without trade-offs
  • Simplicity in architecture design
  • Improved erasure coding
  • Intelligent I/O traffic management
  • Space and resource efficiency with simplified storage provisioning
  • Scalable, high-performance native snapshots
  • Security with cluster-based encryption

Micron with Lenovo ThinkAgile VX vSAN ESA

Lenovo has qualified the Micron 7450 Max and Pro SSDs in the ThinkAgile VX and put together VX nodes based on these drives. Micron NVMe SSDs are optimized for use in VMware vSAN ESA deployments, providing improved storage performance and low latency.

Micron SSDs also offer a robust complement of security features, helping to address emerging security concerns in virtualized environments.

Available Now

VMware has already announced the general availability of vSAN 8, which includes the optional vSAN ESA. Presented together as the Lenovo ThinkSystem VX integrated solution, these HCI clusters are available now.
